James' Top 40 - November 18, 2015

#1 DEBUT!

AND 5 DEBUTS!

Notes:

  • Justin Bieber lands his first #1 on my chart (as does Halsey), and does it in fine fashion, as "The Feeling" debuts on top of the chart. This was looking at an easy Top 10 debut this week, but the numbers kept increasing throughout the week. This scored a 74 play debut, the 2nd highest mark, which is behind Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Thrift Shop", which landed 102 plays in its debut week back in 2012. This should definitely be a big album track (can you tell already?), and this might be a long charter if this becomes a single. Justin could be looking at a huge song with this. This beats Justin's previous peak when "All Around the World" hit #4.
  • As "The Feeling" lands at #1, this blocks "Seeing Red" from the top spot, which it would have overtaken "Looking Up" (1-3) had it not been for Justin. This still has a shot at #1 in the near future, as "The Feeling" won't stay #1 for too long, and this is in perfect position to strike as early as next week.
  • Hedley goes Top 5 this week with "Hello". While Adele's "Hello" is going big on everyone else's chart, Hedley is scoring big on mine. This has a shot at Top 3 right now, but the 1-4 positions are a bit above this. Next week will either see no movement, or going up to #4. "Quit" lasts just a week at #35 before being pushed off.
  • "Ghost In My Head" moves into the Top 20, going 21-19 this week for a new peak. This keeps moving up and should continue to do so for awhile.
  • As expected, "Sorry" took a big jump this week, going 28-23 for a new peak. I only listened to Purpose once, but it still got activity without it. This will seek the Top 20 next week.
  • Adele moves into the Top 30 with her "Hello", as it goes 31-27 for a new peak. This should hit Top 20 in a few weeks, but a nice, slow ride is what this is going to have to deal with for the time being. Its projections have gone down considerably, as it might not hit Top 10.
  • "Unsteady" also pushes into the Top 30, as it goes 32-29 for a new peak. This should be a decent sized hit, but it should take its time. This is looking at a Top 20 peak, but it has room to grow.
  • 3 songs debut this week without hitting On the Rise.
  • "idfc" hits the chart this week at #34. I actually heard someone blaring this in the shower a few weeks ago, and then again earlier this week, and I decided to download it. This could be a Top 20 hit. This is Blackbear's first charter.
  • Watch The Duck make their way back to the chart and take a #36 debut this week with "Don't Blame Luv". It's unknown what this will do depending on if this or "Stretch 2-3-4" is the radio single, but until then, this will enjoy some success. "Stretch 2-3-4" might debut soon as well and both could ride the chart together. This is Watch The Duck's second charter, as they hit #5 with "Poppin' Off" a few years ago.
  • Skrizzly Adams makes his chart debut this week with "Tipping Point" coming in at #37. Out of the debuts (besides "The Feeling"), this should have the most success. This debuts with 3 days of activity, and it's looking good. I'm really liking this and it sounds like nothing else right now. This could be a Top 10 hit. It will either get there fast, or take its time.
  • The final spot goes to "Fashion" this week. This debuts only because "The Hills" went recurrent, so that doesn't help its case. It might be a short stay, but if it were a few weeks ago, it'd look like a big charter. Time should tell.
