James' Top 40 - September 30, 2015

New #1!

Notes:

  • "A Taste of Silver" regains the top spot for a year leading 11 weeks. This battled out with "First" for the throne this week, and will probably continue to do so for the next couple of weeks.
  • The Top 5 finally gets broken up after 4 weeks of the same songs as "End of the World" moves up 6-5 this week. This one is starting to turn around a bit. It was starting to fall out of the Top 10 when it dropped from the #1 spot, but it stayed steady in the bottom of the Top 10 before moving up for a few weeks to get to where it was now. This probably won't get another shot at #1, but it's next mission is to break apart the longing Top 4.
  • Fetty Wap scores his first Top 10 hit with "My Way" moving up 11-10. This has been moving up each week since its debut, and it looks to be paying off. This does have the ability to move up again next week, but it might have to stay steady or drop out of the Top 10. This did have a helping hand with Fetty's debut album dropping this week.
  • "Ain't No Stopping" hops 20-12 in its second week. This one should easily score Top 10 next week, and this is probably the top contender for the next actually new #1.
  • "Yin Yang" (22-18) and "It's You" (24-20) both hop into the Top 20 this week, both moving up 4 positions. Both are looking like mid-teen peakers, but both do have potential. They should also start slowing down now since there are not as many songs to hurdle over as there are right now in the 20-30 region.
  • David Cook has himself another solid week. "Criminals" pushes 30-24 for a new peak, another big gainer. This looked to be a mid-20s peaker when it debuted, but now it's destined for the mid-teens and still with room to grow. Next week it'll seek the Top 20. David also debuts "Better Than Me" at the #40 spot on the chart. This beat out two other album tracks ("Dangerous" by: Shinedown and "I'm Gonna Love You" by: David Cook) for the spot. This was the surprise entry to me since I thought "I'm Gonna Love You" was going to be David's big album track. That one could debut next week, but like most album tracks, it has limited time to grow until I wait for it to be a single.
  • Night Riots and DNCE climb into the Top 30 with "Oh My Heart" (33-27) and "Cake by the Ocean" (34-30) respectively. "Oh My Heart" had a big week, and it's close to pushing up its prediction. Both songs right now could be mid-teens peakers.
  • Tove Lo scores the top debut this week as "Moments" debuts at #32. It had a huge start to the week before simmering down towards the end, resulting in a lower debut that what could have been. This one has really grown on me since it was announced as a single. This has the ability to go Top 10, as a lot of her songs have done. Nothing has replicated the success of former 13 week #1 "Habits", but she's had nice tries in "Talking Body" (#29), which has been a juggernaut, spending its 37th week on the chart despite only peaking at #7. That actually has a shot at getting pretty close to a full year, but it'll probably fall short. "Timebomb" (18-21) was doing good until it was pulled as the single, then it was pulled from my heart.
  • "Zero" debuts at #35 this week. This has the potential to go to the mid-teens. This also marks Talay Riley's return to the chart, as a writer this time. You can also hear him on backup vocals in the chorus.
  • Zac Brown Band score another re-entry this week as "Junkyard" reenters at #39. I actually noticed that I have listened to this much more than "Beautiful Drug", and considering this is 7 minutes long, that's a lot of minutes put into a song I'm not charting. So basically it got my pity charter lol. It does have the potential to start moving up though since it now has a new start.
