Joseph's Hit 40

The Vamps jump 11 places this week to score yet another #1 hit with Middle of the Night, knocking We the Kings down one place. Middle of the Night is their tenth #1, leaving them just one #1 behind One Direction's record of eleven. Only three of the previous nine #1s however have spent more than a week at the top, so time will tell if Middle of the Night will join that club. The track is a collaboration with Danish DJ Martin Jensen, whose only previous hit Solo Dance leaves the chart this week after peaking at #19.

Also jumping into this week's top 10 are Kygo and Ellie Goulding, who have teamed up on First Time. It's Kygo's fourth top 10 hit, and first since It Ain't Me reached #3 earlier this year. Ellie's last top 10 hit came last summer, when Still Falling For You peaked at #4. It's her ninth top 10, although I have many regrets about the peak positions of some of the Halcyon singles, most notably #12 hit Burn which is one of my favourites!

After achieving her first #1 hit with Chained to the Rhythm, Katy Perry returns with Bon Appétit, which climbs 20 places to #7. It might not have reached the heights of its predecessor but it's the first chart hit for rap group Migos, who feature. It's Katy's eighth top 10 hit, although it fails to become her sixth top 5.

The final new track in this week's top 10 comes from Finnish DJ Perttu, who claims this week's highest climber with Good Good. It's his first chart hit and therefore his first top 10 hit, something that also applies to featured artist Yates. Also claiming his first chart hit this week is DJ Khaled, who claims this week's highest new entry with I'm the One at #11. The song features Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper and Lil Wayne. Bieber has the most chart hits out of any artist in my chart (also climbing 17 places with Despacito this week), but it's the debut chart appearance for Quavo (as a solo artist) and a new personal best for Lil Wayne. Chance the Rapper has previously only charted alongside Bieber, on #8 hit Confident. Fun fact: Quavo is also the first artist EVER whose name begins with Q to make my chart!

On Monday night (1st May), I went to see Ed Sheeran live, with support from Anne-Marie and Ryan McMullan. The effect is clear in my chart for the first two names, with Ciao Adios up one place to #15, while also claiming the title of longest runner, while Alarm re-enters, just one place above Shape of You. Galway Girl also enters at #36 for the first time, and both ÷ and x make huge gains in my album chart.
