Chart

Joseph's Hit 40

For the second week in a row, my "one to watch" song has gone on to debut at #1. Knocking former #1 George Ezra down a place is Serbian singer Marija Žeželj with her debut track Dance Like Nobody's Watching, a light pop track with a hugely catchy chorus. It's Marija's first chart hit of course, and is the first artist to enter at #1 with their debut chart hit since Kristian Kostov in May with his Eurovision hit Beautiful Mess.

Marija is the only artist making her chart debut this week, although Artists For Grenfell enter at #29 with Bridge Over Troubled Water. Many artists taking part on that song have had huge success in my chart, including 1D members Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson, as well as the likes of Anne-Marie, Louisa Johnson and Paloma Faith. However, technically, for some artists, this is their chart debut. Having said that, it's worth mentioning that none of these artists receive an individual credit!

We see new chart peaks this week for Alec Benjamin (I Built a Friend climbs two places to #6, improving for the third week running), Stomzy (Power is up three to #13) and Martine McCutcheon (Say I'm Not Alone jumps 11 spots to #24). Chlöe Howl also scores her fourth top 20 hit, keeping up her 100% top 20 streak, although new single Magnetic is still a way off her personal best, the #6 peak set by Bad Dream in 2015.

It's been hanging around my top 40 for six weeks already, and in week seven, Swedish pop group FO&O sprint up to #3 with Buzzkill, giving them their fourth top 10 hit. FO&O are made up of Felix Sandman, Oscar Enestad and Omar Rudberg, and were previously known as The Fooo Conspiracy (until the third O, Olly Molander, left the group last year). Buzzkill isn't actually a single, it's simply an album favourite of mine, but nevertheless outpeaks previous singles My Girl (#7), Summer Love (DNC, a chart regret!) and Who Doesn't Love Love (#20). It doesn't manage to scale the heights of their most recent singles though, as both Gotta Thing About You and So So Good made it all the way to #1.

Continuing the boyband fever, we see another song in the top 10 for the first time. It's taken three weeks for Citizen Four's Want You Back to make the top 10 but this week it climbs six spots to #8. Citizen Four are an American group, made up of Austin Percario, Conner Boatman, Josh Levi and Carson Boatman. They achieved a top 20 hit earlier this year with second single Testify (first single Cold didn't chart), and now Want You Back becomes their very first top 10 hit.
