Joseph's Hit 40

This week we've got another new #1, this time from a couple of artists that I'd expect pretty much no-one reading this to be aware of. HNNBL is an American DJ, while Miles Wesley provides the vocals. It's through Miles that I actually found the song, as he's currently taking part in the US talent show Boy Band, hosted by Rita Ora and judged by Timbaland, Emma Bunton and Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys. For the third week in a row, an artist gains their debut #1, after George Ezra and Marija, the latter of whom puts up a strong showing for her second week but still unfortunately drops one place.

Also making chart debuts this week are Mimi (Sandén, sister of Molly Sandén who scored a #2 hit in 2012 with Spread a Little Light, and a #4 hit later that year with Unchained), Samantha Harvey (with a different track to Forgive Forget, which scaled the iTunes top 5 a week ago), Ryan Riback (who remixed Starley's #8 hit Call On Me but doesn't receive a credit for that) and some chick (genuine artist name!). Beyond these debut hits, no artist achieves a new personal best this week, although Pharrell Williams matches the #18 peak of WTF (Where They From) alongside Missy Elliott, with current hit Feels alongside Calvin Harris.

US country star Hunter Hayes scored his debut hit in the first week of 2014, scoring three #1 hits over a period of five weeks as I discovered his music for the first time. He's scored a total of five #1s, with the most recent being 21 in 2015, which was also his most recent top 10 hit until this week, where brand new single Rescue debuts instantly at #3. It's his 11th top 10 hit, four of which were never actually released as singles, including his debut #1 hit More Than I Should!

Lucie Silvas is one of the most successful artists in the history of my chart. She featured in the very first chart with demo Bump Bump at #5, as well as co-writing my very first #1, Last Call by The Saturdays. She's achieved five #1 hits, most recently the title track to her third album Letters to Ghosts back in 2014. Lucie, born in the UK but currently living in Nashville, released two brand new singles recently, and this week, both make a belated debut in my top 10. The more uptempo My Old Habits inches ahead of ballad Just For the Record, and they become her 13th and 14th top 10 hits.
