Marco Borsato and Trijntje Oosterhuis celebrate a third week at Number 1

Marco Borsato and Trijntje Oosterhuis celebrate a third week at Number 1 with Wereld Zonder Jou. The song is becoming one of the most successful Dutch songs of all time. The song has amassed over 40,000 points, earning the hit single a Gold Certification. This is Marco Borsato his sixth single to be certified Gold. The single is Trijntje Oosterhuis her first single to receive a Gold Certification as a solo-artist and her third Gold Certification in total, also counting her success with Total Touch. Marco Borsato and Trijntje Oosterhuis face strong competition from Guus Meeuwis & Vagant with Ik Tel Tot 3 at Number 2.

WOW! score their first Top 10-entry with Keer Op Keer (Loop Maar Naar De Maan). The song was last week’s highest debut. WOW! Is a Dutch girl group formed under the management of the highly famous record producers Rob and Ferdi Bolland. The girls are modelled after the Spice Girls, with each member having a distinct personality. The song is becoming a hit on the Dutch charts, peaking at Number 16 so far. On this list, WOW! peak at Number 9 this week.

Shaggy scores his third Top 10-entry alongside Marsha. The American-Jamaican singer has already left a lasting legacy on this list, having scored two big hits in 1995. Shaggy first debuted with Boombastic, which peaked at Number 2 and was certified Platinum. He continued with In The Summertime alongside Reyvon, which also peaked at Number 2 and was certified Gold. Shaggy then disappeared from this list for one and a half year, until he returned with Piece OF My Heart. The single peaks at Number 10 this week.

Wet Wet Wet score the highest debut of the week. The British rock group has scored some big hits on the list, starting with 1994’s Love Is All Around.  The song was became the best-selling song of 1994 in Britain, whilst topping the charts in countries worldwide. On this list, the single peaked at Number 3. Their biggest hit was yet to come. In March 1995, Wet Wet Wet peaked at Number 2 with their Platinum-certified success Julia Says. The single amassed over 72,000 points. Other small singles followed but none lived up to its predecessors. This week, the boys debut at Number 22 with Yesterday.

Ginuwine receives a Platinum Certification for his Number 1-hit Pony. The song became the American rappers breakthrough on this list. The song spent two weeks above the list and has scored over 65,000 points. The song also enjoyed international success.
