Noah Kahan enters a third week at Number 1 with “Stick Season” and earns a Top 10-debut with Sam Fender

Noah Kahan earns his best week yet, as he extends his reign at Number 1 with “Stick Season” to a third week, while he bags a Top 10-debut with a new song altogether. First things first – “Stick Season” has enjoyed a successful chart run already with sixteen weeks in the Top 40 already. This week, the breakout hit is supported by its biggest streaming figures yet. Noah Kahan faces competition from Japanese-born singer-songwriter Mitski and her viral smash “My Love Mine All Mine” which re-peaks at #2 this week. Dua Lipa her “Houdini” is also not planning on a disappearing act any time soon, as the platinum single rebounds to #3. Last week’s top debut – “yes, and?” by Ariana Grande – drops out of the competition for now as the single falls to #4.

At #7, Noah Kahan debuts with “Homesick”, remixed to feature Sam Fender. It is boosted by incredible streaming figures. It becomes Kahan his second consecutive Top 10-hit on my list and further boosts its album’s success. Kahan has been a longtime fan of Sam Fender and has been following his career ever since “Dead Boys”. We last saw Sam Fender in my personal Top 40 in 2022 with the small Top 10-hit “Wild Grey Ocean”, which was included on the extended edition of his smash second album Seventeen Going Under. It became Fender his biggest album to date, spawning two Number 1s and four additional Top 10-entries. With “Homesick”, Sam Fender earns his milestone tenth Top 10-song.

The past few weeks, Vrienden Van Amstel Live! has started in Rotterdam. It is one of the Netherlands’ biggest musical events of the year, as it brings together the most popular artists of the nation to sing all their hit songs and other beloved classics. Its promotional single “Alles Op Gevoel” by Flemming, Zoë Tauran and Ronnie Flex moves into the Top 10 this week, peaking at #10. The first two artists have both enjoyed a successful chart year in 2023, as Flemming continued to score big radio hits and Zoë Tauran climbed to her first Number 1 on my personal list with “Monster”. The featured Ronnie Flex is a modern Dutch pop icon with fifty-eight Top 40-entries under his belt. He earns his twenty-fourth Top 10-single while Flemming and Tauran both earn their third.

Further down, Dutch pop star Antoon debuts with his new single “Blindelings”. It is a big sing-a-long love anthem and his first release under Atlantic Records Benelux. The young singer made his breakout in 2021 with the synth-hip hop song “Hyperventilatie”, which shot all the way to Number 1 on this chart. Many more hit singles followed, including the Number 1s “Vluchtstrook” with Kris Kross Amsterdam and “Hallo”. His success on Spotify was unmatched and he collaborated with multiple high-profile acts. Last year, though, Antoon slumped a little bit, failing to produce a Top 10-hit. The new “Blindelings” seems to be a return to form. It is off to a great start at #24 this week.

Rounding out the new entries, American singer-songwriter Teddy Swims debuts with his global hit song “Lose Control”. The song has been a streaming success since the end of last year, breaking the charts in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The song failed to make an initial impact on my personal list, but finally cracks the Top 40 due to a boost in streaming. It makes its debut at #34. Scottish superstar Lewis Capaldi enters at #39 with “Strangers”, another soft ballad taken from the deluxe edition of his sophomore album Broken By The Desire to Be Heavenly Sent. The album previously spawned a string of Top 40-hits, including his first Number 1-hit “Forget Me”.
